On September 29, 2008 Alexey I. Fedorov, JSC “UAC” President and Chairman of the Executive Board held a press briefing on Indo-Russian Civil-Military Aerospace Cooperation in the Russian Information Centre (RIA Novosti International Press Center in New Delhi, India).
Mr. Fedorov spoke about UAC’s plans to supply to India not only military but also civil aircraft, including Sukhoi Superjet-100; about participation of the Corporation in International Exhibition and Conference on Civil Aviation, “India Aviation 2008” in Hyderabad on October 15; about UAC’s intention to open its representative office in India until the end of this year; about started training of Indian pilots, engineers and technicians by Russian experts. Mr. Fedorov also informed the press on the plans of joint development of fifth-generation military fighter aircraft.
The head of UAC noted that the Russian MiG fighters have a real chance to win the upcoming tender announced by the Indian Government in connection with modernization of the Air Forces of the country. He did not exclude the possibility of equipping the MiG fighters with Bramos missiles, as well as touched upon a number of prospects for cooperation between Russia and India in the field of aviation.
Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) forges corporate and business processes to form the Commercial Aviation Division. In accordance with the decision of the UAC’ Board of Directors, JSC «Sukhoi Civil Aircraft» and LLC «UAC – Integration center» will join the PJSC «Irkut Corporation» as branches.
