Several agreements totaling over 40 billion rubles for deliveries of An-148 regional aircraft produced by VASO were signed within the framework of the First Voronezh Investment Forum on June 27, 2008.
A basic agreement under which IFC acquires 34 An-148 aircraft from UAC during 2008-2011 with the purpose of their further leasing to customer airlines, as well as purchases 30 additional aircraft during 2011-2012, was signed between the two companies.
The agreement was signed by Alexey Fedorov, UAC President and Alexander Rubtsov, IFC General Director. This large scale order allows UAC to start full-scale series production of An-148 regional aircraft at VASO. In the nearest future a corresponding order between UAC and VASO will be confirmed.
Another document signed at the Voronezh Forum was the contract for An-148 lease between JSC “Ilyushin Finance Co.” and JSC “Moskoviya airline”. According to the document, JSC “Moskoviya airline” will lease 15 An-148 aircraft with increased flying range from IFC during 2008-2013. The signed contract calls for 10 firm orders and 5 options.
An-148 aircraft production becomes key for the Voronezh aircraft factory due to significant demand for these aircraft from Russian and foreign airlines. Currently IFC, as the main leasing supplier of Russian commercial aircraft has signed a number of firm contracts with airlines on delivery of more than 30 An-148.
The demand for this aircraft has considerably grown in connection with recent decisions of the Russia-Ukraine Interstate Commission to further develop cooperation in An-148 aircraft production and resume serial production of An-124 aircraft. Previous arrangements between heads of JSC “UAC” and the State Aircraft Corporation “Aviation of Ukraine” to deepen cooperation in new civil and transport aircraft development and production, certification and maintenance of An-148 and An-124 aircraft became the basis for these decisions. A joint Russian-Ukrainian An-148 aircraft production program until 2015 was also agreed and the issue of necessary technical documentation transfer from the designer – ANTK “Antonov”, to the manufacturer – VASO, was solved.
Furthermore, in part the airlines’ interest is caused by recent decisions of Mr. Fedorov and Vneshtorgbank’ top management to open a 1,1 billion rubles credit line for the Voronezh aircraft factory. One billion rubles is being directly allocated to VASO from UAC’s budget for the development of production capacity and upgrading the factory.
“Extensive preparatory work preceded today's event. We are sure that all necessary prerequisites, both technological and economic, for An-148 serial production launch at VASO are in place. This is one of the first projects organized and guaranteed by UAC. An-148 serial production in Voronezh is one of the elements of the revival of this large enterprise, which after technological modernization will become a key participant in a number of UAC’s future programs. This project is also being implemented with direct support from both federal and regional authorities”, said UAC President Alexey Fedorov during the contract signing ceremony.
