Within the preparation for the maiden flight of the new MC-21 airliner Irkut Corporation began tests of MC-21-300-0001 aircraft on frequency response. The works are held in the final assembly shop of the Irkutsk Aviation plant with the participation of specialists from the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI).

It provides information on the preparation for the maiden flight of the MC-21-300-0001 aircraft, manufacturing of the experimental batch, as well as ground-based testing of new aircraft.
On 24 May 2018, Republic State Enterprise Kazspetsexport of Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Irkut Corporation (an affiliate of UAC) signed the contract for delivery of another batch of Su-30SM multirole fighters. The contract was signed by the General Director of Kazspetsexport, Arman Ramazanov and the First Vice-President and General Designer of Irkut Corporation, Oleg Demchenko.
On May 12, 2018, the maiden flight of the second MC-21-300 test aircraft took place at the airfield of Irkutsk Aviation Plant, the affiliate of Irkut Corporation (a UAC member). The testing results of the first test aircraft were taken into account in the production of a new aircraft.
At the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, a branch of Irkut Corporation (part of UAC), the construction of the second MC-21-300 aircraft, intended for flight testing, was completed. The testing results of the first test aircraft were taken into account in the production of a new aircraft. On March 25, the MC-21-300 was transferred from the final assembly shop to the flight test department.
