History
JSC “Ilyushin Finance Co.” (IFC) was founded in 1999 on the initiative of JSC “Ilyushin Aviation Complex” for IL-96 aircraft leasing. The founders of IFC were “Ilyushin Aviation Complex” (15% of charter capital) and a firm "Vneshkonsult" (85%) which was related to Mr. Alexander I. Rubtsov, present Director General of IFC and Vice-Chairman of the “National Reserve Bank” (NRB) at that time. The first IFC’s first contract was an agreement with “Aeroflot” for the purchase of six IL-96-300 aircraft.
Creation of an aircraft leasing company was stipulated by the need to withdraw Russia’s civil aircraft construction industry from deep crisis caused by disintegration of the USSR.
The way out was found in establishment of financial leasing mechanisms in the sphere of civil aviation manufacturing that afterwards found reflection in a State Program of Civil Aircraft Leasing. Owing to development of that Programme the air carriers obtained the possibility to acquire the newly built Russian aircraft with delay of payment for 10-15 years by way of financial leasing, and the aircraft production enterprises – to resume production of modern and competitive products.
In August 2001, IFC won the tender for obtaining state support of leasing programs and became a participant of a State Leasing Development Program in Russia.
Since 2001 the Russian Federation has become one of the IFC shareholders through the redemption of its shares.
Currently “Ilyushin Finance Co.” is the largest organization that supplies new Russian-made civil aircraft to domestic and international markets by way of financial leasing, including the use of export credit mechanism in the framework of a State Program to Support Exports of Industrial Products.
Since the moment of its formation IFC became a strategic partner with Russia’s largest aircraft manufacturing plants – JSC “Voronezh Aircraft Manufacturing Company” (Voronezh) and CJSC “Aviastar-SP” (Ulyanovsk). Overall IFC’s portfolio exceeds 100 aircraft valued at more than $3,5 bln.
